Full Installation of CRE Loaded in Easy Steps   by Darla McCommas

How to install our customized CRE Loaded templates using the 'Full Installation' method in Easy-To-Follow steps.

  1. Save the template you purchased from your account at The Template Shop to a place on your own computer where you will remember. We suggest to create a new folder in 'My Documents' and name it the same as your template ID number. In this example we are using template ID TM3274 so our folder is named 'TM3274'. This makes it easier for extracting the file later.

  2. Use a zip program to unzip the files. We suggest a program such as WinZip or WinRar. Extract the files to the same folder you downloaded the template to. You may do this by right clicking on the template file and then left clicking on 'Extract Here'.

  3. After you have extracted the zip file, you will need to upload your folders and files through an FTP client. An FTP client is needed to transfer your folders and files from your computer to your website. If you do not have an FTP client you will need to download one from the internet. Some popular choices are:
    Smart FTP
    Ipswitch

  4. We will use the Smart FTP program for this demonstration. Now that you have extracted your zip file you will need to go to your FTP client (Smart FTP in this case). We will be showing you how to upload your files with this particular software, however, other FTP software programs will work differently.

First you will need to create a 'New Remote Browser', which is your website. You will need to have your website FTP login information in order to complete this step:

  5. Next you will need to enter your website login information into the following box. Then click 'OK':

  6. Next you will need to create a 'New Local Browser' in order to find the zip file that you previously saved:

  7. Next go to the 'Local Browser' side of the screen and find the folder where you extracted the zip file:

  8. Then double click on the template folder to open it:

  9. Once you have opened the template folder you will see 5 more folders as well as 2 installation instruction files. Double click on the "Full Installation' folder to open it:

  10. Then double click on the 'catalog' folder to open it:

  11. Next, you will need to go to your website and decide where you want to install your new template. You can either install it into the Home Directory (usually public_html) or a different folder altogether. In this case, we already have a template installed so we are going to install the new template into a folder named 'catalog'. First, we need to create the new folder:

  12. Click the 'Refresh' button:

  13. Then open the folder where you will be uploading your folders/files to (the 'catalog' folder in this case):

  14. Now go back to the 'Local Browser' where you have opened the template folders/files previously:

  15. Left click the first folder (Admin) once to highlight it (do not open it). Then on your keyboard press the 'Ctrl' key and then the letter 'A' key. This will select all the folders and files within your template:

  16. Then click the 'Upload' button:

  17. Once all your folders and files have uploaded 100% to your website then you will need to change the permissions to 777 on some of them. In this demonstration we will show you how to change the permissions on the first folder and will assume you can follow our lead. Here is the list of folders and files that need to be changed before installing your template:

    admin/backups
    admin/images/graphs
    admin/includes/configure.php
    debug
    images
    images/banners
    includes/key
    includes/languages
    includes/languages/english
    includes/languages/english/mainpage.php
    includes/languages/espanol
    includes/languages/french
    includes/languages/german
    includes/languages/add_ccgvdc_english.php
    includes/languages/add_ccgvdc_espanol.php
    includes/languages/add_ccgvdc_french.php
    includes/languages/add_ccgvdc_german.php
    includes/languages/affiliate_english.php
    includes/languages/affiliate_espanol.php
    includes/languages/affiliate_french.php
    includes/languages/affiliate_german.php
    includes/languages/english.php
    includes/languages/espanol.php
    includes/languages/french.php
    includes/languages/german.php
    includes/languages/tell_a_friend_article.php
    includes/configure.php
    temp
    templates/3274/images
    tmp

Open the folder first to get to the file or folder you need to change the permissions on:

Right click on the folder or file you need to change:

    Click on 'Properties/CHMOD':

    Change permissions to '777':

  18. Next you will need to create a database and database user in your web server's control panel. If you are unsure how to do this even after reading this article you will need to contact your hosting company. All control panels are different, however, in this demonstration we will be using the very popular 'cPanel'.

  19. Now you are ready to run the install folder. Server requirements:
PHP4, mySQL4 and php.ini settings Register globals = On must be set

Open up a new browser and type in the path to the install folder. In this case, it will be domainname.com/catalog/install/ (sometimes: domainname.com/catalog/install/install.php/)

  20. Here is where you will make sure that the permissions have been changed on all the correct folders and files.

  21. Enter the database information that you previously created. In this demonstration, the database server is 'localhost'. Your database server information might be different. This information should be in your control panel. If you are not sure, you will need to contact your hosting company to get this information.

PLEASE NOTE!  If your template is using Patch 12 or later, you need to select the 'Database' option in this step instead of the 'Files' option for the Session Storage.  Failure to do so will result in an inability to log into your store's admin!!!

  1. Click the 'Continue' button on each page until you get to this page. Now you need to create the Admin login information. You may use whatever information you would like. Then click 'Continue':

  2. Click on the 'To go to the Admin, Click here' button. Then enter the Admin login information you just created:

  3. Once you have logged into the Admin, you will need to delete the default Admin Member which is: 'admin admin' email : admin@localhost.com. You may do this by clicking on the 'Administrator' link. Then click on the 'admin admin'
member, then 'Delete'. You need to do this for security purposes.

  4. You will need to go back to your FTP client and change the permissions back to '644' or '444' on the following files:
    admin/includes/configure.php
    includes/configure.php

You also need to delete the 'install' folder.

Enjoy your CRE Loaded 6.x shopping cart. If you are still unable to install the CRE Loaded V6.2 contact your host, or web site designer.
